One of Nigeria’s very promising artistes, Akaycentric, has dropped a new single, titled “After All”, with a call on his colleagues to make music that are decent and enduring. Coming a year after his last song, Parachute, After All is Afropop infused with Makossa tunes, produced by E. Kelly and features celebrated guitarist, Fiokee. It preaches about love and the fencing that characterises today’s relationships.
Akaycentric, whose real name is Akinola Olumuyiwa Oshodi, and turned professional in 2010, believes music should be enduring and leave a good legacy.
“Some artistes are doing so well, but several keep rushing back to the studio because of the longevity of their songs. I am trying as much as possible to do songs everyone can love, that is also commercially viable, and adults won’t have to cover the ears of their children from listening,”
He also seeks more commitment and support from stakeholders and government for the entertainment industry, as more youths are being taken off the streets and gainfully engaged. The support should include attracting more international collaborators, fund distribution and curbing piracy..
